A Very Special Ring Design Project - Remaking a family heirloom

How do you start to remake a family heirloom? We met with a client who has ring that has been in her family for generations and it was time to re-purpose the ring into something new.  She decided to remake the 1 carat round engagement ring into an everyday necklace she could layer and wear everyday. 

She chose a bezel setting, which is both classic and beautiful.  In staying with the style of the ring, we did the bezel in white gold, like her white gold prongs, and the chain in 18k yellow gold, like the ring band.  We returned the setting to her, and she can now wear the necklace everyday, keeping her family close to her heart.  

We presented her with a CAD mock-up of what her necklace will look like when finished.  During the design process, we show the client every angle of the piece of jewelry so you can see exactly what it will look like. This is the last change to make any necessary tweaks or changes before the piece is complete. 

We absolutely love the design of this necklace! It's a classic setting that is timeless. This setting can accommodate any size stone. The one pictured is a 1ct. round stone.  From our initial consultation, to her wearing the necklace was around 3 weeks.
